Mother Nature was a little angry or was it Debra?  Anyway, we have rescheduled the CS&T Swim and Dive Awards Banquet for tomorrow, Sunday August 5th at 8am.   We will have bagels, munchkins, fruit and beverages.  Hopefully, we will see all of you there.  We apologize to those who have plans and won't be able to attend.

8/2/2012:
The coaching staff has some important announcements to share with you to wrap up the season.

Tomorrow is Pep Rally! We'll begin with taking the team picture @ 3:30, please don't be late. Everyone should wear their team suit for the picture, if you can't find your team suit please wear a dark colored suit to blend in with your teammates. Pizza will be served at 4:30 and shortly thereafter pep rally skits will begin in front of the clubhouse.

The coaches look forward to AWESOME attendance at tomorrows practices and seeing everyone Friday evening for the team picture, food and skits!

Check your email for important information for championships including the timeline for champs, a map of the grounds, and directions to the Wayland town pool (located at the High School).

Here's a quick list of important times and info:
-The town of Wayland has a strict noise policy. No noise makers, loud music, horns, etc. until after 9 a.m.
-Parking not allowed any earlier than 7:00
-Warm-ups @ 7:30-8:55
-Athlete Parade @ 9:00
-Meet starts @ 9:30

The Wayland Town Pool has bleacher seating along both sides of the pool deck however, cannot accommodate everyone. The pool has a fence enclosure and teams have designated areas for their team to hang out outside of the fence. If you prefer not to sit on the grass you are welcome to bring camping chairs and pop up tents for shade cover. Please note that our designated area is next to a very busy road. Wayland is putting up a temporary fence, however, please be sure to supervise your children when they are in this area.

Swim Fast and have Fun!

GO CS&T!

End of Season Barbeque Reminder

All tickets for Saturday evening barbeque must be purchased by Wednesday 8/1/12 at 3PM.

This ensures the order numbers for the caterer to prepare for the cookout after the meet on Saturday.

Tickets can be purchased from Donna Omobono at the club or stop by the front desk and the greeters will have tickets and can take your name, $ and number of family members attending.

Looking forward to a successful Champs on Saturday

7/27/2012:
We are in the final week of the swim and dive season and have some important announcements to share.

Tomorrow is our last dual meet and it's at home vs. Wedgewood. We still need a number of volunteers to help run the meet including timers, stroke & turn, ribbon writing, bull pen, runners, and scoring. Food donations are still needed for concessions during the meet. For parking tomorrow, just a reminder, please park in marked spots only. Once the lot is full you may park along the right side of the drive as you enter.

Next weekend is our championship meet at Wayland, however, we need to submit our volunteer list by this Saturday evening at 6(tomorrow). If you are available to help during champs, please sign up in the lobby at your earliest convenience.

Pep Rally will be next Friday night...sign-ups for skits will be posted in the clubhouse.

This year championships will be run electronically with touch pads. The league also decided, for championships only, that all 6 & unders competing in the meet must be able to finish 12.5 yards without assistance, meaning the catchers must remain behind the 12.5 yd line. More information pertaining to championships will be e-mailed next week.

Finally, the swim and dive team banquet will be next Saturday after champs sometime around 4:30/5:00. Bianco's will be catering the event. If you wish to get food from Bianco's you must pay in advance. Their is a folder with the greeters in the clubhouse with a sign-up sheet attached. Please pay by cash or check (payable to CS&T) when you sign up. Donna Omobono will also be at the club on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning selling food tickets if you wish to purchase then. You must sign up by next Wednesday...no exceptions. We have to report numbers of customers to Bianco's prior to Saturday. Thank you Donna for organizing this!!!

Don't forget about Hotdog Lunch tomorrow. For just $3 you can enjoy a hotdog, chips and a drink.

7/26/2012:
Thanks, to everyone who helped out and volunteered their time for Colonial Classics. The meet was very successful and we couldn't of done it with out you.

We will be hosting Wedgewood on Saturday, warm-up is at 8:30 and the meet starts at 9:30. Sign-ups for volunteers and donations for concessions are posted on the door in the lobby.

Please check out the lost and found for any items that you or your children might of left behind. We will be donating the items to goodwill if they are not claimed by Friday.

We ask that you please help us in keeping CS&T clean and remind your children to throw trash in the barrels and the recycling in the proper bins. In the past couple of days the playground and the shade area has had a lot of litter left behind.
Our playground is a popular spot and children seem to enjoy it very much, please remind them to use the equipment properly and not to throw rocks. We appreciate all of your help with these issues.

7/25/2012:
* Just a note that Hotdog Lunch will be on Friday this week. Enjoy the rest of the week.

*There will be B Team tennis practice today but unfortunately you cannot park in the CS&T lot. The parking spaces are needed for volunteers and officials who are running the Colonial Classics swim meet tonight, thank-you in advance for your understanding.

7/24/2012:
The pool will close tomorrow at 2:30 and will need folks to leave the parking lot immediately following pool closing as we are hosting the Colonial Classic meet for our swim and dive league. Each team has a limited number of passes and we want to be sure to accommodate our visitors as best as possible. If you do not have a pass additional parking is available at the Byam.

Swim and Dive Team, addt'l info:

Wedgewood Meet:
If you cannot attend the Wedgewood meet and have not put your name on the "can't attend" sheet in the lobby, please do so asap....the coaches are almost done the lineup and we would like to begin making heat cards.

Championships:
The volunteer sheet for Championships has been posted to the left of the door when you exit the club. We need to submit names of all volunteers to Wayland (the host team) by this Saturday. Championships this year will be hosted by Wayland at their "Town Pool". It is a beautiful facility on their high school campus that is 10 lanes wide. The footprint of the pool and where all teams will be situated is located under the volunteer sheet if you are interested. Finally, if you cannot attend championships (and we hope you all CAN attend), the "can't attend" sheet is posted under the Wayland footprint. We also need these names asap because we need to have the championship swim and dive entries completed by Friday evening. More information about Championships will be sent out soon.

Until then, thank you to everyone who has volunteered to support our athletes this summer, it's your commitment to the club that makes our swim & dive meets so successful!

GO CS&T!!!

7/23/2012:
We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Just a reminder that CS&T will be hosting a diving meet tomorrow (Monday) so only the shallow end of the pool will be open during the meet. The meet will begin at 1PM and end around 3:30PM..

Over this past weekend we had some trouble with the filter in the baby pool and we are doing our best to solve this problem. Unfortunately, the baby pool will be closed until this issue is resolved.

Just a reminder that CS&T Idol will be Monday night beginning at 5PM.

7/20/2012:
GET PUMPED for Westford tomorrow! Tonight there will be a poster making party at 4:30 for all club members to get some team spirit going for the meet tomorrow.

We are going to meet tomorrow in the WSTC Parking lot at 8:10 to walk in as a team with our tye- dye and team spirit posters. Get PUMPED!

Parking at Westford is limited and we both have large teams, so, if possible, please carpool with another family to the event. Overflow parking at Westford meet will be in the lot to the right when you exit the club. The Westford staff said all folks are welcome to drop their families off at the door when the lot is full then park in overflow.

Just a reminder that everyone on the team has to volunteer for two meets this season. We only have 4 (Westford, Colonial Classics, Wedgewood and Champs) meets left so be sure to volunteer so your family is not assessed a $50 fee.

Tomorrow at Westford we still need:
2 ribbon writers

At Colonial Classics we need:
Stroke and Turn Judges- 2
Bull Pen First 1/2- 1
Second 1/2- 2
Runners Second 1/2- 2
Scorers- 4
Ribbon Writers Second 1/2- 1

Please Remember that volunteers are what make the meets run smooth!

Thanks and GO CS&T!

CS&T Raffle Baskets Fundraiser July 25th-  COLONIAL CLASSIC MEET

We are planning a family fundraiser that will take place during the Colonial Classic meet on July 25th. The plan is to have each age group member contribute to a theme basket. By having large groups participate, each swimmer should only need to buy one new item to contribute to the basket. Each age group will have a designated parent that will collect the donated items. If you cannot get out to purchase a new item we will gladly accept cash to purchase more items for the baskets. Please get your items or money to the pool by Monday July 23rd in order for the coordinators to assemble the baskets to be displayed at the Colonial Classic meet.

During the swim meet the baskets will be displayed and raffle tickets will be sold. At the end of the meet each basket will be awarded to the winning ticket holder. If you are a vendor or business owner, [Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Restaurant] please consider donating items for some advertising. Additionally, if your family has sporting event tickets you would like to donate, they too can be raffled off to add to the total fundraising. Be Creative!

7/19/2012:
The All-Star meet is at Westford Swim and Tennis with warm-ups at 4:00 and a meet start time of 5:00. If T-storms pass through, the meet is delayed 30 minutes and will continue to be 30 minutes after each thunder clap. If thunder persists for 90 minutes then the meet will most likely be postponed to this Thursday. Directions to Westford can be found at http://chelmsfordswimandtennis.org/directions.htm

The process for selecting the All-Star team is consistent with how selections have always been made. All-star selections go to swimmers with the best times. For each team (East and West) 4 athletes are selected from the clubs that are teamed together in each event, 3 official swimmers and 1 alternate. Ideally, every race would have representation from every club on the team, however, we're teamed with Wedgewood and Wayland and they have some age groups that have few to 1 swimmers, therefore you may see that we have more than one athlete per age/gender/event entered (ie. some events have 2 or 3 official CS&T swimmers). Fortunately, their loss is our gain and we get more kids qualified that way. The EAST coaches met on Sunday from 11-2:30 to determine the all-star team.

One final note regarding selection, this year is the first year we have two other clubs on our team because last year we finished second at championships. An additional team results in us having fewer swimmers on the all-star team, but luckily not too fewer. This year we have 77 swimmers on the swimming squad competing in a total of 119 events. So, to clarify, all-star teams are determined based on the results from championships the year before. Teams that finish 1 & 4 team up, and teams that finish 2, 3 & 5 team up. This year we're the EAST and we're teamed up with Wayland and Wedgewood.

And finally, I mean it this time:), a quick story for all of my alternate swimmers out there...If your child is an alternate we encourage them to attend the meet as you never know what could happen at the last minute. That's actually how I made my first NE Senior Champs meet (now "Opens" for you US swimmers). I was an alternate at finals for NE Age Group champs, a kid in finals got sick, I got in the meet, swam a lifetime best in long course meters, placed higher in the heat than expected, and qualified for seniors. So, there's a good chance your alternate swimmer won't get in...but, there's also a chance they will get in...you never know!

If you have any questions, concerns, or you name it, please feel free to see me on deck, preferably before or after practice or a meet and if I'm not available then please bring those concerns to Jen McGlauflin.

GO EAST and don't forget to cheer on all of the swimmers in the league tomorrow, it will surely be a fast and fun meet!
7/12/2012: Hope you are all enjoying this great summer weather. Don't forget sunscreen and to stay hydrated!

Unfortunately, the filter in the baby pool is not functioning properly, we will keep you updated on when it is fixed. Thank-you for your patience regarding this matter.

We still need volunteers for the swim meet on Saturday, please sign-up in the lobby.
We also need donations for concessions for the meet on Saturday, there is a list in the lobby of things needed.

Don't forget to sign up for Family Day which is this Sunday July 15th.!
7/8/2012: Just a reminder about FAMILY DAY, which will be held on Sunday July 15. We have a lot of events planned and usually it is a great time for all. A pasta lunch which includes pasta, meatballs and sausages with peppers and onions will be available for the low, low price of $5.00, drink included. We ask that families bring either a dessert or salad to share. Please sign up in the lobby so we can order the right amount of food.

5/29/2012: I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather at CS&T this weekend! I'd like to thank the aquatics and maintenance staff for doing an excellent job setting up and cleaning the clubhouse and the fenced in enclosure for another season. Great job guys!

Welcome to all of the new families this year! At your earliest convenience please check out the Rules & Bylaws tab on the left hand side of the page. There’s a lot of valuable information here about the club and the house rules. This would also be a great time for all of our veteran members to freshen up on the club rules, etc.

Now for some reminders. Yesterday, in addition to being Memorial Day, was also sign-ups for all swim, dive, and tennis activities at the club for the summer. If you were not able to attend sign-ups have no worries, binders with swim, dive, and tennis lessons and teams lists will be available at the Greeters desk for the next few weeks.

If you wish to order a new swim & dive team suit this year, Tri-Con Sports will be setting up at CS&T on Wednesday, June 6 from 3:00-6:00. If you cannot make it during this timeframe, you can contact Ed Sullivan at Tri-Con sports at 781-861-8921.

Here are some important dates and times for aquatic related activities:

Pool hours:
During the school week: 2:00-8:00 p.m.
Weekends: 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Normal summer hours will begin on Monday, June 25th…1st morning swim practice! Woo-hoo!

Swim & Dive Team: June 4, 6, 8 (M-W-F only) then June 11-22 (M-F or every school day)
Swim Team: 12 & over 3:30-4:30 and 12 & under 4:30-5:30
Dive Team: All ages 5:30-6:30

One final note, as you may have heard this weekend, Phil Lavely is going to be our new dive coach this summer. Many of you know Phil to be a great swimmer and coach, however, he is also a very talented diver and has been coached by one of the best dive coaches in New England. Phil is currently volunteering in India and will be stateside roughly around June 20th. In the meantime our very own Kate Carbonier is going to pitch in again this summer and coach the team while Phil is abroad. Our dive program has been excellent, but small, so, if any of you folks have children who are looking to get involved in one of our programs or they are involved at the club but would like to try something new, please consider giving the dive team a try!

We look forward to seeing you all around the club this summer!
Welcome back and remember, a SAFE summer is a FUN summer!
Cheers,

The Aquatics Staff

5/22/2012: The Memorial Day Weekend Schedule is as follows:

Saturday 5/26 - Club opens at 12:00 pm and closes at 8:00 pm

Sunday 5/27 - Club opens at 12:00 pm and closes at 8:00 pm

Monday 5/28 - Club opens at 9:00 am and closes at 8:00 pm

The Welcome Social will begin at 2:00 pm

5/8/2012: The Tennis Courts are now open!  Please remember to wear proper tennis shoes (non marking on the hard courts especially) and to lock the gates when you are finished.

5/8/2012:  Please be advised that the CS&T parking lot will be closed to all traffic from Monday, May 14th through Wednesday May 16th. Weather permitting, the entire parking lot will be seal-coated and the parking area re-striped in a new configuration designed to maximize the number of parking spaces. Please note that some features of the current striping will be eliminated (such as the hash-areas designed for pedestrian traffic) in order to achieve the objective of increased parking for members.

In the event of rain, we will send a follow-up notification of the revised schedule.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we continue to make improvements designed to enhance the member experience this summer and for years to come! Because of the timing of the work, this should only impact those members who plan to utilize the tennis courts which were recently opened. Access on foot via the bike path is an option during this period. The lot will re-open to automobile traffic on Thursday, May 17th.

Thanks and regards,
Jack Day on behalf of the CS&T Board of Governors
